iwerewolf: new here

*pokes head in and looks around*

Hi, just joined today and thought I'd introduce myself.

Erm, my name is Batwoman and my favorite color is clear with transparent polka dots.

Ok seriously though....

I just read Restroree ( blame my sister for making me read it, remind me to hurt her for that) and I have to say I love it.  I finished it Monday and I've re-read chapter 17 and a few pages into 18 because I don't want it to end.  Why oh why was this the only book written?  and just as importantly, why isn't this going to be made into a movie?

I ordered my own copy the other day and will be giving my sister's back next time I see her.  I'll most likely re-read it as soon as my copy arrives.  This was such a great book, I can't believe that woman ended it where she did and didn't write more.  that's so wrong.

This could really keep going.  Dang I want more.

I went on the search for fanfic (I was that desperate the other night) but didn't find any.  I'm not knocking fanfic, shoot, I write enough of my own, to me anything else written about it can only be done by the author.  That may sound strange but this has to be the only thing where I won't be able to enjoy anything written by fans nearly as much as if it were written by Anne herself.  That's not to say I wouldn't enjoy something written by someone else, say her son for instance, where she colaborated.

So I've got a couple questions then, aside from the above, does anyone know of any Restoree fanfic out there?  Granted I just googled and didn't try other search engines.  But I've found there is very little out there about this book.

ok so that was just 1 question.

That's pretty much it.  I haven't read any of the other books, not that into dragons so the others don't sound apealing.  I'm more into sci-fi than fantasy.  Course I did read "Here There Be Dragons" but that was a Trek book.  anyway, as I was saying, I probably won't have much to say since I don't know the other books.

It's about the way that women were portrayed back in the 50's/60's/70's in any kind of adventure or scifi book.

I got hooked on this a while ago as well, loved that it starts where i live.

Read The Coelura yet? Loved it!

Yeah I know, that's why I don't get the lack of more.

I find it great that this was written in the 60s and is just a little out of date, at least the earth tech. It could still keep going, kind of pick up where the book left off not changing/updating it. Also would work with the minor changes to allow for updating (I'm sure that would be done if this were ever made into a movie).

I can see this going on like the Star Wars books. I was left wondering if her family was still alive, does she see them again? Do her and Harlan have kids? Just what kind of a woman does Jokan find on earth? Somehow I can see him looking for a fiesty woman. ;P

ARGH So much still to be written and yet nothing else.

no, haven't read that. As I said, this is the only McCaffrey book I've read.
